Hello i am wanting to build a gaming PC for 800-900 and so far i bought the monitor (with HDMI port) and I want to have my build use the HDMI and im wondering what parts shall I get with my budget and to atleat run for example (battlefield 4)

Solution
not sure if you need a copy of windows so i threw it in this build. The case i chose was just a quick one that i know the graphics card would fit in no problem. feel free to choose another but make sure it can fit a card that is 11 and a half inches long. This would give you the most bang for your buck in my opinion and you could overclock the cpu a bit if you wanted. if you want to save some money on the build you could drop the gtx 770 for a gtx 760.

ummm that isn't true anymore. the 280X is 400 and up now pretty much every where, the lowest one is at bhphotovideo.com for 360 so it is still more expensive. From what I've heard, it was the litecoin craze that drove the prices up on the r9 series, which is a crying shame to say the least. They were absolute steals for their prices. Hopefully they come back down but right now, oddly enough, performance per dollar rests squarely with nvidia.

You are correct. Strange how nitwits affect market values with virtual currency. It's FRIGGIN VIRTUAL! (Apologies, it just throws me through loops to hear of such things.) Yes, the 770 2G is good card, especially considering the price to performance ratio juxtaposed with a suddenly expensive R9 280x 3G. But you may want to consider it anyway - 3 gigs seems to be a very sweet spot in gaming right now. 1 gig too little, 4 gig just wasteful in most cases. Though there are reviews (you can look them up at your leisure, I haven't the time) that claim that high stress games like Crisis and BF4 will utilize 1.8G of a 2G card, and 2.25G of a 3G card, with similar results. It's really up to you and maybe brand loyalty (which, mind you, is a particularly stupid habit). The 770 will run damn near anything you want right now. But be careful because that extra gigabyte in the 280x might carry you further.

Best of luck.

3GB is only really needed at resolutions 1440p and higher really. 2GB is fine for 1080p as most 1080p games at max settings use about 1.5 to 1.8 GB vRAM. 3GB is nice but not worth the extra cost imo for a card that runs about the same as a 770.

I would doubt that honestly. the architecture is 2 years old. It probably won't age much better than the 770 but I digress. both cards are great performers with their advantages. It all comes down to whether the extra gig of ram is worth 50.00+ to the buyer.

It is such a shame since when these cards came out, they were the be all end all of their performance segment, even after nvidia dropped the price on the 770s the 280x was still a bit cheaper, performed as well as it, (better than the 770 at 1440p) and overclocked very very well. Damn virtual money miners... I wonder how they are going to feel when they realize that this virtual money is going to fall flat on its face.
