can ping with no browsing on win8 laptop

Hello guys,

After a power cut I woke up and tried accessing internet on my win8 laptop,but the websites load with blank response,but I can ping google.com,I tried turning both the computer and router off and on,I tried windows trouble shooting but it doesn't detect my problem and even tells me I have internet access

Are any of you guys familiar with the problem and could help me ?,

FireManDude :

Try opening CMD prompt as Admin (Winkey plus X)
type netsh winsock reset then Enter
Restart your laptop to take effect.

Thank you very much for the response,I tried and the prompt said that the reset was successful but the issue insists,since I use a Asus s550c which has a instant on,can that hurt the restarting process and make these steps ineffective,I also use esset smart security,could it be blocking my connection ?

Can you access the internet or a website from a different computer/device on the same network?

+1 to kcops, logical next step. Then try disabling e-set Smart security. (You're still covered with Defender, it incorporates Security Essentials, and it's not wise having two running at once)

I can access any page using my tablet on the same WiFi network,I desabled both Smart security and defender but I still hang on waiting for "site address" in the lower left corner

Rt click the Wireless Icon in the Sys tray (Bottom Right) and choose 'Open Network' etc.
Choose 'Change Adapter Settings'
Rt click your Wifi connection and choose Properties.
Scroll down and click TCP/IPv4 and again choose Properties.
Check that both IP address and Server are set to Auto. OK and exit all.

Both are set to auto and my issue still occurs

Hmmm. Possibly an OS problem
Try System File Checker
Winkey plus 'X'
Choose Command Prompt (Admin)
Type sfc /scannow then Enter
Also try another browser...

Windows did not find anything wrong thank you very much for your help but I think I will make research before acting upon this issue again if you have any steps or solutions I can try please pm me

Tricky one, unusual. Try another Browser, and if that fails try the Network Forum...
