Hello Everyone, first off, my system specs:
-1100 Watt Strike X PSU
-1100T Black Edition AMD CPU (@stock)
-2x R9 290X XFX Edition GPU (@stock)
-4x 2GB Corsair XMS3 DDR3
-Crosshair IV Formula MOBO
-Running Windows 7 x64
And all this beautifullness is running in an Antec 1200 case.

My main question being:
Will my current Cpu bottleneck my new X-Fire set-up?

Also, i am new to this site so dont hit me if i'm asking this in the wrong forum, but will i have enough power with this psu to run them in stock, and is there some overclock headspace left?

And some extra information; I have recently (Yesterday), ordered a new "Crosshair V Formula" because i liked the option to be able to go AM3+ in the (near) future, and i felt like a newer chipset is never a bad thing.
So would it be wise to instantly get a newer FX 8-Core Cpu, or are there hardly any gains to be had from that.

Ps:
Thank you in advance for replying, im a real newby to message boards because i'm used to doing everything myself. But this time around i really needed some expert opinions ;) .

You current CPU will bottleneck your GPUs, especially in physics intensive games, as you suspected. An i5-4670k or the FX 8350 would be an improvement over what you have, and would likely be all you need.

Thank you for your reply, i thought so.
Would a FX 8350 be enough or would it be more wise to go with the FX-9590?
Considering its only a €100 extra here in the Netherlands, and if i'm going to spend 200 bucks, i might as well go 300 when it would make my setup a bit more future proof.

Actually, yes! :D  Because i really wasn't sure if my cpu would be a bottleneck.
And finally, do you happen to know if the 1100 watt PSU would be enough to power X-Fire 290x in combination with the FX-9590?

With regard to your psu it will be more than sufficient! So you are good there!

http://www.guru3d.com/articles_pages/radeon_r9_290x_rev...
Here is Guru3D's power supply recommendation:

AMD R9-290X - On your average system the card requires you to have a 550~600 Watt power supply unit.
AMD R9-290X Crossfire - On your average system the cards require you to have a 800 Watt power supply unit as minimum.

With regard to your cpu upgrading, I agree with Jake Thorn that your cpu will bottleneck your cards at some point with newer games. See data below:
1100T: http://www.cpubenchmark.net/cpu_lookup.php?cpu=AMD+Phen...
FX-8350: http://www.cpubenchmark.net/cpu_lookup.php?cpu=AMD+FX-8...
i5-4670K: http://www.cpubenchmark.net/cpu_lookup.php?cpu=Intel+Co...
FX-9590: http://www.cpubenchmark.net/cpu_lookup.php?cpu=AMD+FX-9...

The 1100T benchmarks at 5951
The FX-8350 benchmarks at 9054
The i5-4670k benchmarks at 7768
The FX-9590 benchmarks at 10426

So where games demand involvement from your cpu this will be a significant issue in terms of bottlenecking unless you do upgrade. Also, where physx elements are drawn, having a stronger cpu will help as AMD cards are not generally designed to handle physx as much as many NVIDIA models. Now, not too many games demand this but as tech moves forward obviously it's nice to be able to handle this better.
To summarize, you'll notice the difference immediately! Have fun!

Thanks,

Justin S.

You also have to keep in mind that most games are not opomized for more than 4 cores, so the i5-4670k will actually give similar performance to the 8350 in reality. But if you have the money for a 9590, definitely go for it.

This is without accounting for the capacitors aging, they can lose up to 30% efficiency after just 1 year, and not to mention that the 9590 requires over 200 watts, GPU overclocking, that the PSU loses some of its rated power to heat dissipation, etc

Thank you very much for your help!
I can purchase my next couple of items with a calm mind now.
