Hi, Im new to this page. I normally go google searches to troubleshoot my computer problems but I have literally spent 7 hours figuring out this problem.

I put together a computer today using parts I bought online. Everything went fine until the end when I plugged in the GPU ( NVIDIA GeForce 9800 GX2 ) I plugged it into the mobo and plugged in the 6 pin, and 8 pin connectors. When I turned on the computer, all the fan were running, all LEDs came on and I got 1 beep from the mobo confirming everything is set up right.

The problem is the the GPU wont display to my monitor. All the lights on the card are green indicating that everything is plugged in ok. I have already checked the CPU and RAM, they are all ok. My motherboard does not have onboard graphics so I cant even get into BIOS right now. I would really appreciate some help. Thank you

Ensure you have pushed the card all the way into the motherboard (you should hear an audible click, most new builders are too afraid they will break their card at first).

That was one of the first things I tried. Another thing to add, every time I restart the computer when its plugged in to my monitor, it lights up to say DVI and VGA are not connected then goes to sleep.

DO you have 1 or 2 sticks of RAM? if you have two sticks then try with 1 stick in at a time in different slots. although the single beep suggests it's not a RAM issue this sounds similar to what my friend had when he built his. His lack of display was due to a faulty RAM module.

Alright everyone, I figured it out. All I had to do was reset the BIOS by taking the battery out for a night then putting it back in.

oh you have an "Old GPU". try reseting the bios, with BIOS jumper (clearing the cmos checksum, via jumper pin) to detec new GPU instaled.or tray to rubbing with a pencil eraser onto vga slot smoothly, clean it with clean toilet paper. then plug in again on 2nd pciex mainboard slot. it should working
