First of all, here are the components of my new PC build:
Mobo: Asus z87-PLUS
CPU: i5 4670k
RAM: G.Skill sniper 2400MHz 8GB
SSD: Mushkin Chronos Deluxe 240GB
GPU: Gigabyte OC Windforce GTX 770 2GB
Case: Rosewill Thor V2

Everything except the GPU was built about a month ago, and it's been working fine except for one issue. When I first put it together, sometimes the SSD would not be recognized in the UEFI, and I had to reboot. After that, it show up. The issue is that now, when I start windows, as soon as I try to do anything it freezes, and eventually I get a BSoD. Sometimes a few error windows come up right before the BSoD, the only code I saw was error c000006. Also, Asus's AI Suite kicked an error of not finding green.png or some such. The most recently installed piece of hardware is the GPU, but I removed that and the same thing happened, so I don't think it's that. After the BSoD, the SSD is again not detected until another reboot. To me this feels like a hardware problem, but I'll re-install windows if someone more experienced than me thinks it will help. any ideas what might be the problem?

EDIT: I should mention that I tried booting in safe mode, and the same issue persisted. I really can't do anything in the OS because as soon as I do, it freezes. I tried doing a repair from the original install disk, but it said I was trying to repair the wrong version of windows.

In as much as I hate to point my finger at your SSD, I just had the same SSD fail on me after 3 days (I hadn't even finished all of my updates and installs). I'm not thrilled about that since both of my other Mushkin SSD's (180GB one is 2 years old now) are functioning without issue, I'm hoping Mushkin just got a few bad parts we just happen to be the recipients of.

I understand how a problem with the SSD could cause it to sometimes not be recognized, but would the same issue cause windows to freeze and eventually blue screen? I was using the same SSD in my laptop for several months with no issues, so I suppose it could be an issue with that SATA port on the motherboard, I'll try switching it to the ASMedia controller port and see what happens.

EDIT: No dice, the system still freezes. It's not looking good for this SSD. Could it be a power problem? I think if it was a problem with the SSD losing power, the system would crash immediately though. Any other thoughts? My next step is to re-install win7, to rule out corrupted OS files.

EDIT 2: Ok, it looks like the SSD is at fault here. I booted a live disk of Ubuntu, and when I opened the SSD in the default file explorer, the program crashed. After that it would open, but most of the folders showed as empty.

EDIT 3: I finally tried re-installing windows, and it couldn't be formatted. I guess I'll have to give Mushkin a call.
