Hello everyone,

Every time i enable CF i lose fps very quickly and eventually the fps ends up being 3 and i am forced to restart the computer. I have tried this in BF4, fallout nv and rust.

my specs are as follow:

7970's
i7-3770k @ 4.3
800w coolermaster psu
8gb ram
z77 sabertooth

any help would be greatly appreciated.

What GPU Driver are you currently using?

Also, What are the Temps on the cards?

What psu you are you using? I've seen these symptoms on the forums where people with psu's that weren't strong enough to carry certain gpu setups got low fps and can actually be very harmful to your system.

Oh btw, i've had two cards for about 3 to 5 months now and up until recently they haven't quite functioned as well.

My PSU is the 800w coolermaster quiet version

edit: I'm using the new mantle drivers, 14.1 and i've tested 13.1 and i had the same result.

Assuming your psu is running to spec then that shouldn't be the issue.

"Oh btw, i've had two cards for about 3 to 5 months now and up until recently they haven't quite functioned as well." This isn't clear what your stating. So you're saying that things were or were not fine till now? I'm guessing you meant they were functioning well until now. That would make sense as the drivers may be the possible issue. By your original post you suggest that without crossfire you get higher fps. So, can you first clear up what's the case please? I may sound harsh but I'm not; just trying to be clear as it can make a big difference.

Or are you saying you had 2 cards (and were those in crossfire too? safe to assume but sometimes people just do physx if the primary is nvidia; what cards were they?) that were NOT functioning well either? This then contradicts your initial post and what you suggested or you just weren't clear about it from the beginning. There's no right or wrong but just getting the facts straight here. For how long were these other cards bad? I'm guessing again that they weren't bad and indeed functioning well otherwise you would have dealt with that BEFORE trying to crossfire. Or perhaps they were bad and one was the 7950 and so you bought a second 7950 to replace one of them and said what the heck I'll try crossfire anyways? Please take a minute to be a little clearer. I may just be over-thinking it but sometimes that's the difference in finding the solution. What was going on, for how long, what was working and doesn't work now? ie "Yes, my fps are good with just the one 7950 and yes I meant that everything was fine until now or I had ____ setup and that wasn't functioning well till now"

Thanks,

Justin S.

I'm sorry i should be much clearer.

My current issue is crossfire 7970's ghz edition

They're the same cards that i bought 3 to 5 months ago with no issues up until about a week ago when my brother decided to reformat.

Could there be an issue there perhaps he screwed a fresh install up?

Your power supply is marginal at best for those 7970's but, that shouldn't slow you down.... (just crash)

Set your CPU back to STOCK clock speeds, see if that runs better.....

Ok, that makes way more sense. Perhaps. What did he reformat? Maybe you can do a quick system restore to a point greater than a week ago and see if that works?
