Assuming your psu is running to spec then that shouldn't be the issue.
"Oh btw, i've had two cards for about 3 to 5 months now and up until recently they haven't quite functioned as well." This isn't clear what your stating. So you're saying that things were or were not fine till now? I'm guessing you meant they were functioning well until now. That would make sense as the drivers may be the possible issue. By your original post you suggest that without crossfire you get higher fps. So, can you first clear up what's the case please? I may sound harsh but I'm not; just trying to be clear as it can make a big difference.
Or are you saying you had 2 cards (and were those in crossfire too? safe to assume but sometimes people just do physx if the primary is nvidia; what cards were they?) that were NOT functioning well either? This then contradicts your initial post and what you suggested or you just weren't clear about it from the beginning. There's no right or wrong but just getting the facts straight here. For how long were these other cards bad? I'm guessing again that they weren't bad and indeed functioning well otherwise you would have dealt with that BEFORE trying to crossfire. Or perhaps they were bad and one was the 7950 and so you bought a second 7950 to replace one of them and said what the heck I'll try crossfire anyways? Please take a minute to be a little clearer. I may just be over-thinking it but sometimes that's the difference in finding the solution. What was going on, for how long, what was working and doesn't work now? ie "Yes, my fps are good with just the one 7950 and yes I meant that everything was fine until now or I had ____ setup and that wasn't functioning well till now"
Thanks,
Justin S.
