Hi,
I'm planning to buy a new computer and this is what I came up with

cpu: i5 3570 3.40 GHz
mainboard: ASUS B75M-PLUS
cpu cooler: Silent Scythe Katana 3
gpu: R9 280X dual-x Sapphire http://www.sapphiretech.com/presentation/product/?cid=1&gid=3&sgid=1227&pid=2022&psn=&lid=1&leg=0
ram: 8 GB Silicon Power 1333
hdd: 500 GB Seagate Barracuda
psu: Corsair CX750
os: Windows 7 Professional 64bit

Is it a good gaming configuration ?
I wont do any oc because of heat and power consumption issues

Thanks

The XFX pro 650 is an excellent choice in quality! I would at least get 550watt for your rig although a quality 500watt would do it it would be over 80% load every time you game.

I'd go with a Haswell 1150 CPU socket motherboard. The Sandy/Ivy bridge 1155 socket is done, can't see any future upgrade are likely...

I'd get a "K" version so you can OC CPU in future. And Z87 chipset to support OC on the motherboard. I'd also plan on DUAL GPU's, by selecting a motherboard that properly supports x8/x8 PCI-E slots:

I run dual 280X's, the system draws between 650 and 700 watts while gaming.... I run a Corsair HX850.

A 750watt simply too small.

Get a very top level 850watt supply like AX860 or HX850 for that system. For the extra few dollars, like $30, if I were starting over I'd buy the Corsair RM1000

Would it give me tangible problems or it would simply perform worse than overs under extreme conditions (i.e. more than 40°C in the case) because I'm not planning to do any overclocking.

Dual-x is the name of the card http://www.sapphiretech.com/presentation/product/?cid=1&gid=3&sgid=1227&pid=2022&psn=&lid=1&leg=0 and I chose that cpu because I'm not planning to do any overclocking because of heat and power consumption issues, that's why I went with a 750 Watts psu. Sorry for the unprecise thread.

It will hardly ever go over 400watt load with your config and the CX series has lower quality capacitors that have been known to fail under stress. Performance will be exactly the same as long as your PSU is big enough, I am just pointing out that not everything Corsair is golden and it is just a entry level budget PSU.

Does that mean I could use a 500 Watt too or would it be too weak ?
The store I'm buying the pc from doesn't offer any TX or HX psu but I can get a XFX Core Edition PRO650W.

I'll go with the XFX PRO550w then (It costs 67.5€ only instead of 92€ for the 650 Watt one)
Thanks for the help
