Everytime I try to install something I always receive errors. I can't even install windows updates. I am the administrator, the OS is installed on my SSD
I didn't know what else to add. Downloading things is fine but when I go to install ccleaner it says "error opening file for writing", when I tried to install microsoft word the error said "verify you have access to that directory" How do I look at the event logs?
Type event logs into the start search menu and press enter. Toggle under "administrative events" and you'll have a list of all the error you have been having recently. Try to find the one that pertains to the error you have when downloading something and try to gyazo/ or screenshot it
Control panel, admin tools, event viewer, windows logs. Look at system and application in particular. This is sounding sort of viral to me. Do you have good protection?

But first i would try going into safemode ( press f8 on computer startup) and try downloading things in there. If it works NP, we know something you downloaded is affecting you. Also, you could try disable your antivirus software.
Okay thanks, looks like windows automatically made restore points when I tried to install windows updates. If I upgrade to windows 8.1 will my restore points stay? Also is there a reason why this happened? Thanks
I wouldn't recommend updating to windows 8.1 unless you're just doing it as a last resort thingy.. it probably won't solve your problems.
Okay I still cannot install anything in safe mode. I will try and repair windows by using the install disk if that doesn't work I will do a fresh install
