What is sata all i know is that it is used to connect your motherboard to your hard drives and optical drives. However i don't know what the the different types of sata are and what they mean. For example there is sata 2 and sata 3 what is the difference between them and can sata 3 hard drives connect with sata 2 sockets? also what is the difference between sata 2gbps sata 3gbps and sata 6gbps and what does gbs mean? Please explain in as much detail as possible and please cover as many questions as possible thanks.
