This is a beta driver that hasn't been fully tested, your job in downloading a beta driver is to report this problem to amd so they can fix if for the real release of the driver. If there is no option to enable crossfire then go back to the latest driver that isn't beta that you weren't having problems with

I've had CF available with the previous 13.x beta drivers. (2 x HD 7870) Why would they suddenly drop CF from the 14.1 driver? That's the whole purpose of the Frame Pacing.

True, but this new beta driver is the biggest changing one they have put out for quite some time, and so with all the changes, it's easy to see why crossfire on a dual card like the 7990 might not work for the beta drivers

From one of possibly the best game and hardware gurus in the business, Koroush Ghazi:
"AMD has released the Catalyst 14.1 Beta graphics driver for the HD 5000 series and above on Windows 7 and 8. This beta adds support for the new A10-7850K and A10-7700K Desktop APUs, enhances CrossFire frame pacing, and also contains bug fixes..."

That driver does CF. Have you done a proper uninstall of the previous driver, rebooted, and then installed the new driver?

I wish the beta Drivers were the problem , it's also doesn't work with CCC 13.12 only with 13.9..

Yes I did uninstall the previous driver and then installed the new driver, but the crossfire option only work with CCC 13.9.

Maybe when the driver analizing my card he think that the card isn't dual GPU ,or maybe the windows (8.1) confuse him with Intel Hd Graphics ?

Wait. Are you running 1 or 2 HD 7990s?
I can't be 100% positive, but I believe that the only time the CF enable/disable option appears is when you have 2 cards. With one HD 7990, the single card is always in "CF" mode. I don't think you can disable CF on a dual GPU card.

Did previous drivers offer enable/disable CF with that card?

I have one HD 7990 and in the previous drivers there are option to enable/disable, and in the new drivers there's no kind of that option , I thought that it's normal and maybe for only 2 HD 7990s it will be ,but in benchmarks I got for instance 30 fps instead of 60 . Maybe the drivers only show that option for bridge crossfire and not for dual Gpu cards ? I'm desperate :spamafote:

I've never owned a dual GPU card, so this is purely supposition. But I would wonder what 2 HD 7990s would appear like in CCC. If you choose to disable CF, you would only disable the 2nd card, not CF. Because CF is still on in the remaining card. So it would make sense to me that a dual GPU card is an always-on CF card. No?

Do me a favor, if you would. When you get the older driver installed, please take a screen shot of the CCC showing the option to enable/disable CF with the HD 7990 installed. Just to satisfy my own curiosity. Thanks.

That is with 13.9? The version that works with CF? And CF is working as it should? Do you have the Application Profiles loaded?

Yes,yes, yes and no it's just working without any special profiles loaded.

No , crossfire working with the new drivers , but not working with 7990.(14.1 and 13.12, and 13.12 isn't beta driver)

I'm downloading the 14.1 beta driver now. I have a 2nd machine (FX-8350/Gigabyte 990FXA-UD3) that has CF capabilities. The only matching AMD cards I have right now is a pair of Gigabyte HD 7750 OC cards. I will try it out with those two cards and report back.

I'm wondering if the issue is specif to the dual GPU HD 7990.

OK, Results...

First, let me apologize to Brantyn Gerik. Yes, it may indeed be the driver is not ready for prime time. Sorry to be so stubborn.

Second, After installation the CCC popped open the window that asked if I wanted to enable CF. It took me to the CCC CF window and offered me the option. I took it, the screen blacked out for a moment, and then returned showing CF enabled. All good so far. Did a few desktop duties with no issues, then decided to run some benchmark pgms to verify that I was getting an improvement over a single card. CRASH! Every bench I tried would crash with CF enabled. After disabling CF in CCC, I could run the benchmark pgms again with no problem.

So... I would avoid 14.1 and wait for the next fix. I will now download the 13.12 driver for the OP and test it, as long as still I have the 2 cards in.

So 14.1 isn't good for dual gpu / crossfire cards , but in 14.1 in your computer he did recognize that you have crossfire and asked to enable it.. that weird , maybe only cards with cross bridge work with 14.1 and 13.12 ...

Yes, all looked normal. If I hadn't tried to run the benchmark pgms, I may not have known anything was wrong until I tried gaming. The CF enable/disable option was there. Even the startup window popped up after booting to offer me the option, had I forgot. So it definitely includes the CF option. It just doesn't work on my system.

OK... Just installed 13.12 for you. Everything is normal there too. CF enable/disable is available in CCC. Ran Furmark, it showed 2 GPUs and produced the expected improvement in fps over a single HD 7750. But I'm going back to the latest beta before 14.1... 13.11 beta 9.5

UPDATE: the CCC 14.1 does recognize my dual gpu and there is now the CrossfireX option, the only thing I did is that I installed the CCC "AS A MANAGER" Option and than it worked (:

Lol... that's a new wrinkle. First time I've know something like that to be a 'fix'. But if it works now, run some benchmarks to see if it is stable on your single card (dual GPU). My dual cards caused it to crash running Furmark, 3DMark, etc. Basically anything that recognized CF.

Dear All,

Greetings from Brazil !

I made an update with latest driver (14-4-win7-win8-win8.1-64-dd-ccc-whql.exe) available in AMD website for my HD7990.

After this, my 3 monitors configuration won't work.

I'm only use 2 monitors in same time. The 3rd remains deactivated. If I want to use it, I need to disable one of these two first.

With my prior driver, all works perfect. Included the "eyefinity platform".

Please guys, anyone of you can help me ?

Best Regards !
