@Rinu

When you are installing Windows, are you formatting the partition that you are going to use for the OS? You said that you have your data stored on other partitions so it would be fine to do a clean format on the OS partition. Or you could always purchase a hard drive docking station (hard drive toaster some call it).

You can dock your hard drive into this and plug it into another computer and pull off all of the data that you need. You can also run a linux cd if you need to pull data off of the hard drive if you need to and then you could try formatting the entire drive and starting over from scratch. Are you trying to repair your installation of Windows, or are you formatting and then running a clean install?

yes bro, iam formatting the C partition before installing it. there is no success everytime!.i'll check out the docking thing later because i stay in india( might not be possible for me to buy it).and yesi cant try repair the installation because i formatted the partition and there is no OS to select and recover it!!!. my thought is can i run windows 7 in any usb stick and then dump the data in my hard drive to external, or my other option is to buy an SSD(which i was planning to buy it llong time ago),remove my old hdd install OS into ssd and then just use the HDD space for storage
do u think this is good idea?? is it gonna work if i remove the hdd and put my ssd and do a clean install??
thnx in advance

If you purchase another hard drive, you could surely install Windows onto it. You could then access the other hard drive through Windows Explorer as if you were accessing an external hard drive. It will just be listed as another internal hard drive but can be accessed the same way. You could always access the HDD, transfer the data you want to your SSD (cut and paste), and then completely format the HDD to use as storage space.
