Router Web Interface Access Problem

Hello guys. I have a problem with my Rosewill router. I was able to access the web interface and I skipped the setup because I went to upload new firmware (dd-wrt). I was able to access the dd-wrt interface and tweaked the settings a bit. I am not sure if I had to upload two files because I uploaded the webflash image for first installation and did not upload the webflash image after that. Everything worked except I was unable to get internet via LAN on my computer (I could get wi-fi) and it would repeatedly ask for my username and password (even though I gave the correct username and password, it prompts for it around four times before it disappears and I am able to save my settings) so I reset the router and I was unable to access the dd-wrt interface after that. Here I made a mistake by not using root and admin as the username and password, but instead the old username and password that I created so I was unable to login. Therefore, I unplugged the router and plugged back in the default port switch that was provided for the room because I could not put a password for the wifi. After checking more forums and tutorials, I plugged back in the Rosewill router and went to 192.168.1.1 but could not connect. The default gateway got changed so I changed it back to 192.168.1.1 and went back to 192.168.1.1 and it prompted me to login, but neither root - admin nor my old username password combo worked. After some time, I figured out that it was asking for a netgear password which I found and used. It worked and I got into the netgear web interface for a completely different router that is not even close to me. I became so confused because how did I go from Rosewill to DD-WRT to Netgear? I have college internet if that may be part of the problem. Thank you for the help.

Edit: Added in a few more details

Edit 2: I think the netgear thing is the resident hall's router/network/modem

Hi, thank you for the reply. I was connected through cable on my desktop and it did not work. I am going to edit my original post to add more details.
