So, recently, I knocked my my external Samsing M3 HDD against the cupboard when moving the desktop around, since then My Computer refuses to acknowledge it is plugged in, however, it will appear on Device Manager and Windows makes the noise when it knows a USB has been plugged in.
Also, if I attempt to boot with the device plugged in it gets stuck on "Configuring Device Manager" and won't boot and I have to restart.

I have attempted this on multiple computers to no avail.

Any help?

Here is a video showing how a SalvationData trainer does it. Note that he would normally be doing this in a cleanroom, and he would be wearing rubber gloves.

Alternatively, you could try "percussive maintenance", but there are significant risks.

BTW, the platters must be rotated in their normal direction of motion, namely the direction that the headstack is pointing. If you rotate them in the wrong direction, you may tear off the head sliders.
