Hello,

For some reason my MacBook Pro freezes completely and I have to hold the ON-OFF button to force it to switch off.
Once back in MAC it says that the time, calendar etc settings have been restored to default and the WIFI icon is greyed out saying the hardware is not installed.

Rebooting the system solves everything until it freezes again at random times but I found out that if the WI-FI is permanently off the problem goes away.

I have to say that the battery has an alert of service since over a year and I thought in replace it soon because it can be the cause of the problem.

Any ideas?

Open it up, and double check the uppermost (up being towards the fans) connection is securely fastened to the board. My old macbook actually had the cable pop off the connecter, and caused the same issues as you
