When playing intensive games my computer will shut down entirely. Before shutting down I will hear a wheezing sound coming from the power supply. It is a G series 850 watt gold certified power supply. Its really started to inhibit what I want to do with my pc. When I try and overclock it shutsdown. When I try and max games;it crashes. My specs are as follow:
GPU: Zotac 780
CPU: i5 4670k 3.4 ghz
Heatsink: Noctua NH-D14
SSD: Samsung Evo 250gb
HDD: Seagate Barracuda 7200rpm 1tb
Mobo: Asus Maximus Hero
PSU: G Series Lepa 850 watt gold certified power supply
Case: Black Matte Windowed Edition Phantom 630

Any advice? I've sent 2 support tickets to Lepa for help with no response.

All great components except the supply , if it's making more noise when it's stressed it's not a good sign , the power supply sounds like it can't handle the load.

Your using the right range in wattage , just a poor PSU.

Recommendation: New supply to protect your other components.

I dont understand what you want me to say.
O.K, i will explain it a bit. Your power supply unit is failing so badly it shuts down when you use the pc for intensive tasks. A cheap or defective power supply can destroy all the components in a pc case.
The motherboard, cpu, graphics card, ram and harddrive plus anything plugged into the SATA ports are at risk.
Look at it another way; would you sit in your chair watching a film if smoke started to poor out of your T.V. or would you turn it off?
The advice I gave you is the best you will get
(buy another power supply unit PRONTO) and if you took a pole of that across every member on this forum they would agree with me.
The only magic bullet you will find is $'s.
Buy a new power supply, you are risking your computer.

Except my PC is stable when playing several games on max settings with no stability problems. I got the Lepa power supply on sell for 85 dollars from NCIX US. It usually costs around 160-200 dollars. I don't think that its the brand that is bad. I also checked that PSU tier list before I bought it. And I read several extensive reviews before buying it. I've sent 2 RMA's with no response.
