Msi R9 270 w/ mantle lower fps?

with driver 13.12 and directx i was getting smooth framerates and hardly any drops. Now with 14.1 and mantle I get drops down to like 20-40 fps every 3-4 seconds and very stuttery Gameplay. Any answers to why? I uninstalled 13.12 before installing 14.1

Try uninstalling 14.1 and getting 13.12 back. If it fixes it, maybe they still have to do some fixes on their new drivers.

I think mantle only really works wonders with the 280's and 290's because in Thief maxed out, I get 36FPS min with DX11 and it is 37fps min with Mantle, And my Average is 49.8FPS with DX11 and 53FPS avg with Mantle, And the max is 71.4FPS max with DX11 and 77FPS max with Mantle. So performance wise that is not much at all. Sure the average and max FPS is higher, But it is the minimum FPS that matters most. However it is very playable with both, But I did notice that Mantle actually looks better than DX11. The shadows and textures and every detail was so much cleaner and smooth looking in Mantle. So I honestly feel they should drop DX for Mantle, It should not be hard for Nvidia to incorporate it into drivers for the Fermi and Kepler/Maxwell series cards. But whoever said Mantle looks bad compared to DX was either lying or had a bad pair of glasses.

It's not a driver thing and even if it were that would still never happen.
