g'day everyone!
i recently bought some new EAST/WEST Quantum Leap sample libraries for my audio work. given the size and detail of the data for these virtual instruments, id like to put them on external SSD's to use with my laptop to avoid unnecessary latency and load times. ive looked up external SSD's on amazon and newegg, but most of them are around 300-400 dollars for a 120gb, which surprises me considering thats the price of a 500gb samsung 840 pro, which is an internal drive. why are external ssds so much more expensive? can anyone recommend to me some less expensive good quality ones that use USB 3.0 (NOT USB 2.0, USB 2.0 is too slow to stream these)
thanks!

also, since my laptop only has 3 USB ports (one of which is usually connected to my audio interface), ive been thinking about getting a USB hub. will that limit the speed of my drives if i plug them into a hub?
cheers!

Do you have USB 3.0 ports on your laptop? Make sure you do. If you do then get a powered USB 3.0 hub to hook the drive.

External drives are always more expensive because you have the case, power supply (if needed) and they know they can charge more.

yea, my laptop has 2 usb 3 ports (its a Samsung ativ book 9 plus)

is there a way to use internal ssds like with a case to save $$ (if theres a such thing as SATA to USB adapter)

will the hub limit drive speed too? (even if its powered)
