Can i have window 8 installed on both hdd and ssd at the same time?

Im getting a ssd tomorrow and im just wondering cuz i dont feel conftroble deleting windows off my hard drive, even though it will be on my ssd. also, will i still have all my files and data after the installation of the ssd? my friend says program files will be gone.

1. You do NOT need Windows installed on both drives. SSDs are more reliable than HDDs
2. Once you install the OS on the SSD, your applications will need to be reinstalled.
3. Your 'files' will still be there, but may be a pain to actually access.

my hdd is a 2tb and the new ssd will be 128 gb
