I try to load windows and i get a black screen with an error that states as follows:

"Windows failed to start. A recent hardware or software change might be the cause. To fix the problem:

1. Insert your windows installation disc and restart your computer.
2. Choose your language settings, and then click "Next."
3. Click "Repair your computer."

File: \Windows\System32\config\system
Status: 0xc00000e9
Info: Windows failed to load because of the system registry file is missing, or corrupt."

I have an Alienware m18x and you are able to use 3 HDDS and so i took my old Acer HDD, which works, and then went to start/computer/ and then found the "corrupted" HDD and was able to click on it and i was able to see the files and all my other data.
Tried the system repair but it dosent work. Itll claim its doing the recovery but alls its doing is just moving the blue bar and will sit there for an hour and ill shut it down because obviously it froze for reasons unknown. So i try system restore but it wont even load ANY of the HDDS and I have 3 of them! and wont detect any of them! And for some strange reason the acer HDD keeps on saying the hard disc will crash if i dont make a back up. and it works perfectly fine when its on my acer. Idk what to do. Normally i would rewrite the 'Corrupt" HDD but i have ALOT of important info on theyre and i want it back idc if the disc gets erased as long as i have the info.

Solution
Slave the hard drive into another computer, and use recuva to backup all of your data. Then you can completely wipe and reinstall the OS on that hard drive.

Slaving a sata hdd is just connecting the corrupt HDD into another laptop, correct? i did that also and it still said the error message. Unless thats not what slaving is lol.

Yes, that is slaving a hard drive. You connect the hard drive into a good working computer, as a 2nd hard drive. It boots off of the good hard drive, and you can access the files from the 2nd hard drive. There is a lot of software that can recover data from that configuration.

Oh...I only have one HDD slot on my Acer. My alienware has 3 but that was the original computer. The Acer HDD only has 80 GB while the corrupted has 500 GB. I have another HDD becuase the alienware was 1TB (2 500 GB HDDS) but i dont think it has an operating system. Have any guides on how to do this?

Okay...But would i be able to use my alienware? i dont have a usb to sata cable. The alienware is a good working computer better than the acer. and it has 3 slots.

Okay i ordered a USB to SATA cable. Is there an program that will let me choose what data i want from the corrupt HDD? I only need a few VERY important things and i found out that my other alienware HDD is broken something to do with a smartfailure or something. My Acer only had 80GB and the corrupt one has 500 and i would obviously need around that sze to transfer the whole of it, which i dont wanna do. So is there a program that lets u select certain data to transfer?

Easus is a good data recovery tool.

To be honest, you may not even need it though. A lot of times you can simply connect the damaged drive as a slave drive, and still access the files on the drive. Then it's simply a copy and paste to your good hard drive.

What kind of cable did you order? Did it come with SATA power as well? If not, you need that as well. Something similar to this has both, the USB to SATA data cable, and the SATA power adapter.

Ok. So i got the cable. It works. I however did forget to mention that for some reasons unknown, there are 2 operating systems on the corrupt HDD, a home premium and a ultimate. i go to my computer and click the HDD and for some reason, its only showing the home premium not the ultimate which is the one i want to get the data from.

Nah only one shows up it says local disk F. Ik the ultimate is not deleted because i put it on my alienware again and seen both OS for the choice. I tried putting it on Easus and recuva and it sill only shows the home premium OS. Also a recovery option shows up too when i plug in the disk. Cant find anything in there either.

Im using the acer hdd now on my alienware and ALL partitions show up, theres no way the data was deleted from the ultimate becuase i can click the partition, it goes to all the basic folders, windows users etc. alls i really wanna do is get to my documents which everything important is saved but when i click users/m18x @ m18x it loads but gets stuck but when i do that for the home premium, i can get the my documents. So there is no way the ultimate was deleted. And idky its not showing up on my acer with the cord?

Well...i got some more confusing news. On my acer now and the HDD that i thought was broken (the one that said smartfailure) actually has the ultimate OS on it! Before though, when i used the cord with that, the acer did no pick it up b4 it said device failed to install. So it worked and is showing up in the partition on the acer, the one OS i want. itll let me go to certain folders unlike when i had all 3 on the alienware when everytime i tried to open a folder it would either freeze or say access denied or something similar. but i still cant get the m18x folder to open. and as far as ik tnat where my documents is. unless theres another way to get to my documents?

I can however click on other folders like windows and get kinda far. Some folders load some dont.

Ok, so it's a permissions issue on that folder. Use the take ownership tool, to give yourself rights to that folder, and then you can access it.
