DDR2 RAM Questions

Hi guys, I have a few questions:

- I was wondering if DDR3 sticks are compatible with a DDR2 slot on a Biostar Tforce p965.

-I'm looking to get 8gb of ram (2x4)
and I see that DDR2 has recently become expensive.

-I currently have 4gb (4x1) and I've heard that more ram can give you better performance and faster load screens in games, especially fallout new Vegas with a bunch of mods.

-if I have to get DDR2; does anyone know a good place to buy it so I don't have to pay over $100 for 8gb of ram.

According to booster that board only supports DDR 2.

At least 8GB of RAM is normally optimal so aim for that but while you can still find DDR 2 it's not going to be cheap since it's no longer on demand.

DDR3 cannot be used to replace DDR2.

Good luck finding DDR2 for cheap since they're discontinued and they're hard to find (and therefore more expensive). You may have some luck with eBay.

DDR3 sticks will not work in a DDR2 slot. Read the first paragraph here for a few of the reasons why:

Also, look at the pictures further down in that article, the notch isn't even in the same place.
There were some motherboards that had both DDR2 slots and DDR3 slots, but that's not one of them.

Your mobo supports only DDR2. DDR3 will not work on it. Finding cheap DDR2 now is very difficult. They are discontinued and that's why very expensive. Why not save those bucks and get DDR3 capable board.

The cutouts on DDR 3 RAM sticks are about 2 mil different from DDR2, to stop people inserting them by mistake. The voltage is lower and they are incompatible.

Hmm, I'll think of that. If I got a new mobo I would have to find one compatible with:

Intel Pentium Dual-Core 2.93 ghz (3.5ghz oc)
EVGA GTX 760 Superclocked 2gb /w acx cooling.
My wifi adapter
My hdd
My optical drive
And antec basiq bp500u 500w psu
And it would have to fit in my case (I'm pretty sure most mobos will fit considering my case is literally huge)
