New Motherboard - Memory dimm Slot reading memory capacity incorrectly

Hi guys,

I just replaced the motherboard, processor, and memory in my old gaming pc, and I bought a new samsung ssd for it, i'm having some problems.

When i start up the system with 2 sticks of the same 4gb ram in the system, in the correct slots for dual channel, instead of showing 8gb ram it shows as having 4gb installed. To figure out why this was happening I tried 4 different sticks of all the same exact type of ram and this is always the case, I'm fairly sure there is nothing wrong with any the ram sticks itself. I also tried installing multiple different sticks, one at a time, of 4gb ram in the last slot for ram, which is one of the 2 slots i was using to put in 8gb in dual channel, and for some reason that slot for the memory sticks shows the 4gb of ram as being 2gb when i start the system - the other slot shows the ram correctly as 4gb, So i am confused as to if there is something physically wrong with that memory slot that it always shows 4gb ram sticks as being 2gb, or if there is something wrong with the bios that somehow is making that happen.

it's probably reading the ram from the computer's false reading. That motherboard isn't a known brand and I wouldn't recommend it. How old is it, if you can or want, the only way this will work the way you want is if you change it for another one, like Gigabyte, Asus or ASRock. It's the motherboard that's giving you the false readings or halved memory.

That doesn't always mean that 2GB is actually meaning 2GB being used by the memory, It most likely is 4GB, But you can always check. Download Nova Bench for PC and run the tests and see how much MB of ram appears on the final test result. False reading happens all the time, same with intel's Quad core i7's reading as Hex (6) Core I7's, it will most likely be incorrect reading but it should be using 8GB that is installed.

I downloaded Nova Bench and ran the test, it says 4 gb at the end :C but i have the two 4gb dimms installed in dual channel. in my bios now i have checked what it reads them as with both installed, and it says that each one is 2gb, but when i take the second one out, it reads the other one as 4 gb... when i take out the first one and put the second one in by itself it reads that as 2gb...

on top of that, if i switch the dimms around and install them in each others places, they get the same results, so the dimms are all the same and seem to be 4gb as they should be... but something is going wrong.

any suggestions?
