It's my first time ordering a computer for myself, so I am not building it myself, I am using Chillblast (http://www.chillblast.com/) to design a PC from limited parts and have them build+ship it.
The only component I am struggling with deciding on is the Motherboard, I have a choice between an ASUS Z87-K or a Gigabyte G1. Sniper Z87.
I have done a bit of research but most of the reviews seem conflicting or don't really jump out at me as being conclusive, so I've decided to ask the forums here.
Info about me:
Ideally I'd like to know which motherboard would be better suited for what I do.
I'm a college student who games on steam (mainly Portal 2, Team Fortress 2 and Minecraft, though that likely to change to more demanding games throughout the computer's lifetime). I do quite a bit of programming in Visual Studio (C#/C++) though I plan to give Unity a go soon. I also use Blender from time to time as I have an interest in 3D modelling. (I will be doing programming and 3D modelling at college, and at the higher end of the latter I will be rendering 3-5 minute videos at 30+ FPS, possibly in cycles mode). I don't care much about audio, I'm unlikely to be overclocking any time soon and I don't care if the motherboard 'looks ugly' or not if it does a good job.
Info about the rest of the computer:
My CPU is going to be an i7 4770K and my GPU is going to be a GTX 760. My main CPU cooler is going to be the Akasa Venom Voodoo (which I'm told is quite large, so that may have some bearing on the motherboard). I know the Z87-K only supports 3 fans, but I haven't been able to find out how many the Sniper supports. I don't know much about the extra features of each (i.e. surge protection thingies, whether the gold plated audio ports actually serve any purpose other than looking golden).
Which one would you recommend for me and why? (Feel free to ask for more details or links)
PS- Do either of these come with wireless network adaptors or do I have to buy a PCI/PCIe network adapter separately?
PPS- Not accepting "don't use either of those" as an answer unless the suggested alternative is coherently and suitably justified
