Dell usually made LGA775 computers based on BTX standard, which places motherbord components on different locations, including expansion slots. Check what is your motherboard, you can find (usually) service manuals ad support.dell.com

Thats a bit pricey. Check out the asrock 775 board, they still make one. But you have to tell us what the cpu is, if it is lower than a q6600 you are wasting your time. Q6600's are only worth $33 and a haswell 2core pentium is 10% more powerful.

It is irelivant . an E7500 is worth about 17 dollars.
Start again with a new haswell 1150 board. A new dual core is twice as powerful as that.
