Hi all,

Background:

• I've got a Haf X, with a Bitfenix Recon fan controller.

• I'm looking to upgrade the Haf X’s standard fans to Bitfenix Spectre Pros (led version). These fans have two cables: one for power, and a separate cable for the inbuilt leds.

Problem:

• I want to be able to turn the Spectre Pros leds on and off when I like. However the Recon doesn’t allow me to turn the lights on and off.

Note - I’m aware that the Bitfenix Hydra allows me to adjust fan speed and turn the lights on and off. However, I much prefer the (digital) Recon.

My question:

• If I purchase the Spectre Pro’s how can I turn the leds on and off when I like?

• To consider:
o Is there another (digital) fan controller I could purchase (which allows me control fans and turn leds on and off)?
o Can the NZXT Hue rgb led controller be hooked up to the leds on Spectre Pros?
o The HAF X has a button to turn off the 230mm fans led… Can I mod / jury rig this and connect it to all the fans?
o Any other suggestions?

Any help would be much appreciated!

- Another fan controller, really doubt it.
- Then why not just use the HUE? And no
- Jury rig is the right word, I suspect to get that working on multiple fans you would have to get soldering. That and making sure you dont burn out the front I/O PCB, thats only intended for a single fan.

This will probably require some research to get it done. Find out what voltage those LED's run on (for some reason I'm thinking 5v, not too sure though) and see if you can find a molex fan speed adapter for that voltage. From there it will be a custom job to hook up the LED's to that adapted molex, with again a custom on/off switch in there.
Long story short, case lighting via fans is a bad idea, get yourself an NZXT Hue and cheaper non-LED fans
