Do not upgrade.

Reasons for no upgrade:

1. The GTX 660 needs 24A on the 12V rail.

2. The CPU will not keep up.

3. The motherboard does not allow overclocking.

Use the computer as-is, and save your money for a new build in the future.

Are you sure its got DDR2 in it? I have the same mbrd (Acer EG43M) with 8gb DDR3, same q9400 cpu, did put in a 700w psu .. using same res on an acer monitor 1680x1050 .. but with GTX 550 ti 1gb .. works great for mine and play games, well, lotro with grfx set to their highest settings without any issues at all. Using the P01-A0 03/19/2009 bios on it. If you did somehow get ddr2 with yours, you may want to try ddr3 and see if it eases up some for you. Just wanted to share my setup in case you may be able to get some more umph from yours.

Check and see whether there is any BIOS update for the motherboard that will enable you to use DDR3 as the above poster suggested.

Yes physically the pins are the same but the notch position is different - http://www.crucial.com/support/difference_ddr2_ddr3.asp...

Maybe the board has different versions - you got DDR2 and the other poster got DDR3. Probably a manufacturing running change. They should have at least changed the model number of the board when they changed the RAM specs.
