I ask this because I just built my first pc with a friend.

Is it bad to shut down a Pc on and off a few times a day?
Should a PC only be turned off a few times a week?
Should the PC stay plugged in the wall after it is shut down?
When the PC is shut down, is turning the main plug switch off bad?

lol u are too paranoid. my pc running like 24/7 and it is still alright. well here are some tips/answer:

1. it is ok to shutdown ur pc a few times a day if u are not using it. what is not alright is if u just shut it down, DO NOT turn it on again immediately if u forgot something, wait for 2 seconds interval at the minimum before turning it on again.

2. nope, it is okay depending on ur usage. what is not okay is if u run it like mine w/o turning it off for a long time. it will be okay if, and only if, ur room is conditioned just like a server room, -20deg C at all time. if u are not using it and ur room temp is somewhat warm or u don't have AC or u have AC but not on 24/7, it is better to turn it off when u r not using it.

3. If ur...

3. If ur electricity in ur home is stable, it is alright.

4. nope, it is good too avoid short circuit if ur house electricity is not stable, provided u don't mind the hassle of doing it every single time.

Hmm, that would be interesting; seeing a server room that is chilled to minus 20 degrees centigrade. Every time you opened the door, moisture would form on all the components and short them out.. The power bill would be astronomical too, even with god insulaton. Oops, I meant good insulation. God would see thru some pollystyrene foam if he wasnt just a figmant anyhow.
