Paired with a stock i5 4570?

Is it worth it to abandon 60fps/1080p for 40-50fps/1440p?

Or should I wait for the r9 300/gtx800 series?

Witcher 2 is almost too much for any system and any GPU, it taxes out even the best of them, arkham origins and fc3are not that bad. I've recently upgraded to a 1440p display as well, the PB278Q to be exact, and have noticed just how much better all my games looked on that display. You can easily find your balance in performance/quality and I'm sure image quality will be better than any of your 1080p. A lot of folks have tried to persuade me to do 120 or 144hz 1080p instead of 1440, but to me the resolution and screen real estate just felt like the better option. If you have a shop near you where you can try out a 1440p display do it, you will never go back to 1080 =)

It all depends on what kind of games you are playing how obsessed you are with the "MAXXED OUT BRO" nonsense. I've got a 780 and with the high preset BF4 for example runs ~100+ fps at 1440p, and imo looks much sharper and cleaner than the fully blurred I mean maxed out settings on 1080p. You have to remember that the higher in resolution you go the less you need crap like AA or any other filters, and those dish out some of the biggest hits on your performance.

Interesting. I thought it was the other way around and you'll need more AA since theres a lot more pixels on the screen that needs smoothing out.

I'm more of a single player guy actually since I play multiplayer on the ps3 with my friends. Right now I got Witcher 2, BatmanAO and FC3 in my backlog. So yeah I'll be playing most of the graphically demanding games out right now and in the future.
