More about size screen decrease increasing resolution
  1. Thats due to the pixels per inch if I am right(aka ppi) . You got more pixels in the same space so for example shows tinier but you got more space .

Screen size and resolution are independent of each other, they are inter-related.

A 21" screen will always be a 21" screen, the screen size does not change at all, but as you increase resolution you put more pixels per inch in the same space making the icons, etc appear to be smaller.
  3. The icons are designed to a certain number of pixels. These are not adjusted when you change the resolution, so when resolution is increases, the icons appear smaller even though they are the same number of pixels.
