I built a budget gaming rig about a year ago, and I've been hit by the upgrade bug. I'm looking to spend $200 maximum, but would prefer to stay closer to $150. Heres the current rig-

Cpu- Pentium g2020 2.9ghz dual core
Mobo-MSI H61M-P31/W8
Gpu- HD 7770
PSU- Antec 450w
HD- Hitachi 500gb
Ram- Mushkin 4gbx2
20" hp monitor 1600x900

I primarily play WoW, L4D, Portal, Skyrim, as well as watching movies on this machine. I do not store music/ movies on it, so storage has not been an issue. Do you guys see anything in this price range that would give me a significant performance boost? Thanks in advance for your help!

Solution

Yes, the games you play are quite cpu demanding especially Skyrim and Warcraft. You should see a significant boost when upgrading to an i5

I was thinking the same thing, or an SSD boot drive. Do you think the CPU upgrade is the best bang for the buck option?
