I have just completed my first build.
I connected my monitor to the graphics card and tried to start up but there is no display, when I press the power button on the computer it doesn't switch off either.

I started taking out parts to find the problem and found that if I take the GPU out and plug the monitor into the MOBO my computer starts up.

I plug it back in and the CPU fan stops working and display doesn't come up.

I have tried using a HDMI cable instead of a DVI adaptor and VGA

I have also checked all the connections to the power supply.

Not sure what else to try!?

Thank you very much for any help!

What are the specs of the PC?
Have you made sure all connections to Video Card are connected?

Tried most of them before and some now. I didn't have a MOBO speaker come with my MOBO. Also, my CPU (FX6300) isn't on this list... http://www.gigabyte.com/support-downloads/cpu-support-p.... But many people recommended this setup and many people have built this setup that I have seen.

Also, the computer wouldn't boot if it wasn't supported would it?

Someone suggested booting the computer with integrated graphics and changing it so the computer uses the GPU graphics. Would that work?

You can try that. Take the GPU out first though. And as long as your BIOS version is at least F5a, you're fine. The 8300 series is the same series as the 6300.

CPU: AMD FX6300
GPU: MSI Radeon HD7850
MOBO: Gigabyte GA-78LMT-S2P
Memory: Corsair Vengeance 8gb
Case: Antec GX700
PSU: Corsair CX500m

and yeah, I checked all the connections
