At what gpu (AMD or Nvidia) would an AMD FX-6300 be good?

I am looking at building an AMD system. Kind of a budget gamer.

It is based around the AMD FX-6300.

I was wondering at what gpu would the cpu choke and the gpu would be starved?

I ask because I don't want to go with the cpu and pay for more gpu than the cpu can handle.

I know AMD doesn't seem to support PCI-E 3.0 yet it seems. But if I can still get a decent setup going between said cpu and gpu I know I can take it from there with everything else. But if say the FX-6300 would be maxxed at a lower gpu, could I just upgrade to the FX6350 or something like that?

I was looking at something like a 7870 or GTX 660/670 or somewhere in the $200-$250 ballpark for gpu's.

Hopefully someone can help me.

Thanks

a 7870 or a 670 would be good for a 6300, there will be no bottlenecking.

What would bottleneck? Anything? I am not planning on crossx or sli and only planning on playing at a max of 1080p (my monitor's native resolution)

Games I planned on being played:

Borderlands 1 and 2, Sims 3, Kingdoms of Amalur, Command and Conquer 3, Simcity 2013, Minecraft, a little bit of Crysis 1& 2, Saint's Row 3 and 4. Would like to play on "High" or higher if possible at 1080p and around 40fps (I can't really tell much beyond probably 50 fps at the most, anything higher become bragging rights.

I am also building a gaming rig around an FX-6300. Any advice on what GPU to use or the smartest way to overclock both the CPU and the GPU. Some people advised that I need a liquid CPU cooler, but I do not want to do that.

FX-6300 build @ $820:

Went with an NZXT Phantom 410 (Red)- Ironically I had the black version for my last AMD build which had an AMD Phenom II 965 BE and a Radeon HD 5770.

As for OC'ing, this is the first AMD build I would have had in awhile. I don't see why we may not be able to pull off about a 200MHZ OC with the coolers, but it also depends on Ambient temps and how much air movement is actually in the case.

I was looking at the Corsair Closed liquid cooling systems, but was being told by users that for the price it won't cool as good as one may think. The Evo should be good enough to even potentially do a little OC.

I got the case so far today and everything else but the cpu should show up today, so hopefully I'll have something running by the end of the week!

It seems we went with some of the same parts! lol
