Yes, you can use drives larger than 2TB as long as it's not being used as a boot drive. To use it as a boot drive you need a UEFI BIOS, which your motherboard does not have.
After you connect the drive you need to go into Windows Disk Management and initialize the drive as GPT in order to use the full 3TB.
