How to get to router admin ip address?

I'm selling an old router and I want to remove the old passphrase so that the buyer can access it. Problem here is that I'm plugging it into my new Comcast issued modem/router combo and so now when I go to http://192.168.1.1/ it doesn't bring up the settings page at all. That ip used to work and I know it wasn't changed. It must be because the other router takes precedence or something. Am I going to have to hook up my old modem (that is just a modem) up just so I can change the passphrase?

There should be a "factory reset" button on the router - pressing the button (some model require you to push and hold 10 seconds), will set everything back to the factory settings, including the passwords.

Would it just have to be plugged into an outlet for power or would it also need to be hooked up to the internet and a computer?

It varies a bit so you would have to read the instructions for that device. But yes you need power. I would hold the button down and then plug the device in the wall. Keep holding the button for say 30 sec. This should reset most routers. Some you do not have to have the button pressed at power on but it likely will not hurt.
