A10 APU or i3 + R7...I need your help :)

Hi Guys,

I have decided to build my nephew a game rig without too much expectation, no need to play everything on ultra, it will be a mini ITX format the two ideas are:

Intel
MSI R7 260X 2048 MB GDDR5
Kingston 1600MHz DDR3 (2x2GB)
Intel Core i3 4130 Dual Core CPU Retail Socket 1150
Asus H81I-PLUS Motherboard Socket 1150

AMD APU
AMD A10 7850K
Crucial Tactical 8GB Kit (4GBx2), Ballistix 240-pin DIMM, DDR3-1866
ASRock FM2A88X-ITX+ Motherboard

The difference in price between the two ins't massive but I see the first option as more reliable and upgrade-able too... and seen some benchmark would offer quite a good rig for the price.

Ideas? Please I want to keep the same items due to price I do have my gaming rig

I don't even need the integrated graphic in Intel as it is rubbish

I have also noticed the Sapphire Radeon R7 250 1GB GDDR5 I didn't even know it existed lol... there is also a 2GB DDR 3 and with this card the two rigs would have the same price.... I see this R7 250 performing better than the AMD APU

You should go for the i3 260x combo. You will get a better cpu and graphics power.And don't go for the r7 250 because the price for performance is not worth it.

And a tip since this is a budget build. Instead of an ordinary hdd or ssd hdd combo you can choose a sshd for decent speed and more storage.

Yep I actually swapped the R7 250 with a Sapphire Radeon HD 7770 1GB GDDR5 as it is "far far faster" (well in a budget point of view than a R7 250), it is only £10 more expensive and it offer good performance for mid level gaming.

The CPU i3 Haswell is raccomended on the Tom's Hardward January Round up.

Overal i3 + MB + Ram (4GB) + GPU = £250.41 so not bad...

Yup that's a pretty good budget build. I think your nephew will be very satisfied.
