Hi guys,
I would realy appreciate your suggestions on choosing the right components for new build. So here are my requirements:

- computer will be mainly used for Pro Engineer 3D CAD software,
- AutoCAD, Word, Office, IE etc, no games at all,
- maximum possible single core performance,
- overclocking is not a problem :),
- big fast RAM, 16GB min,
- graphic card will be choosen after the system is built, probably low-mid range.

Motherboard:
I have chosen Asus Maximus VI Hero, since it has got a good overclocking potential and I can get it for around ~200€ VAT inc.

I'm open for any alternatives, but from what I have read, I can't missed with this MOB. An alternative is LGA2011 MOB, but from reviews its not worth money (extra 150€ for ASUS X79-DELUXE)

Processor:
Core i7 4770k, ~340€ VAT inc. Processor you all know. Great OC potentional, planning to overclock to 4.6-4.8GHz. Depends on quality of processor and what I will be able to do.

Alternatives also welcomed. LGA2011 i7 4820k is an option, but looks like not worthing extra money for MOB.

How about i5 4670k? Any differences in single core raw power from i7 4770k, both overclocked? I can get i5 for ~240€ VAT inc.

Memory RAM:
Definately would like to use all processor potential. i7 4770k bus is granted to work with 1600MHz RAM. I do not know anything about overclocking RAM. Is it possible to work with higher frequencies than 1600MHz on i7 4770k? Does latency on DDR3 modules affect on speed of RAM (visibe to eyes)? From what I have read, latency is not big deal with DDR3 modules.

One option is 2*8GB Crucial Ballistix Tactical ~150€ (product web-site link) 1.5V modules with low latency (CL8, 8-8-8-24).

Here I would realy need help! If the performace will not be greatly improved with other RAMs, than I would buy Crucial modules.

Processor cooling:
I can get Corsair Hydro H110 280mm for ~120€ VAT inc. and I think this is the best possible option for configuration.

Any suggestions?

800€ for proc, MOB, cooling and RAM does not seems too much, lets proceed!

Power supply:
Here I'm totaly blind. Everything I know from this section is that for an optimal performance of a system, you need a very good power supply. I dont know if 500W is enough, nor if 650W power supply for 50€ is good. I would rather spend a little more for superb power supply then pay less and save some money for cheap junk.

Hard disc:
Definately an SSD. Samsung series 840 PRO 128GB or Intel 530 180GB both around 130-140€. Since all data are now fine with 200GB it seems this configuration with additional external disc for backups and other data will be just fine.

Any recomendations or maybe even alternatives?

Case:
Don't like to spend money on case, but somehow I will need to fit Hydro H110 into the housing. It needs to be fitted on top with 2x 140mm ventilators. Well, there is an second option. Since we have a factory with all neccesary machines I could simply put an aluminium plate on CNC and build my own housing, but I wouldn't bother with it if I can get case for less than 80-100€.

Apart from few ventilators I think I have covered whole package.
Just to let you know there is an option for buying an Dell Precision M6800 workmachine laptop. Here is hyperlink: M6800
Configuration with i7 4800MQ, 16GB 1600MHz RAM, Nvidia Quadro 4000, SSD for ~2350€ VAT excl. Does this seems to be much slower than overclocked i7 4770k? Is it worth of buying it?

Than you for your time and answeres. My budget (or better company budget) is not limited to any fixed number, so I would like to get as much performance as I can get for not too much money. Configuration I have chosen seems to fit perfectly into budget. If there will be more performance for more money I will go for it.but for 1% increase in performance I will not pay 50€ extra.

I'm from Slovenia, Europe. Thanks in advance guys!

Well, I've been searching for any similar threads all over the web, but I haven't found anything that would help me make decisions. So here build I have in minds. Remeber this is gonna be build for CAD Pro Engineer Wildfire 5.0 and other more lightweight programs, but again mostly Pro/E.

Here is the list of components that are my first choice. I would realy appreciate some help with some components, since this is the first build in my entire life.

Motherboard:
Asus Maximus IV HERO

Processor:
Intel Core i7 4770k overclocked

Memory RAM:
Crucial Ballistix Tactical 16GB overclocked

SSD drive:
SSD Intel 530, 180 GB

I'm quite sure that all items would fit together perfectly, but case. I'm a little worried that case is too small for Hydro H110 280mm radiator. Otherwise I realy like the case + the price is very good. Any suggestions, corrections?

Thank you,
Jakob
