I'm currently contemplating a new mini itx gaming system I can take with me when I travel. I don't need anything expensive as I already have a i5-4670K @ 4.3Ghz in my main rig. I just want something mobile enough to pack up and easy to hook up at a hotel, but still being able to enjoy quality 1080p gameplay. I will be using a EVGA GTX 650 TI Boost Superclocked 2GB card. I've settled on the Cooler Master Elite 110 for my case. Now I need help picking the cpu.

I undecided between the Athlon X4 750K and the i3-3220. I don't know a whole lot about the 750K, but the $79.99 price point is appealing. However, I built a cheap gaming for a friend of mine using the i3-3220 and a 7850 and he's running BF3 averaging low 50's fps.

So a AMD Athlon x4 750K with a Gigabyte GA-F2A88XN-WIFI FM2+ mobo or a Intel i3-3220 with a Gigabyte GA-H77N-WIFI mobo?

go with the i3. it would be better all around. but if you really want to spend less the athlon wouldnt bottleneck you card. if you dont care about money go for i3 if yes go for the 750k

You have that and then the fact that its only a 4 core Piledriver which means it will lag behind the Haswell i3s just from stock. The i3 also features a better upgrade path as the Athlon II X4 750K is more or less the best CPU you can get on the FM2(+) platform.
