Do you need a good sound card to create a recording studio?

I am no expert in sound cards, but It probably depends what you connect to the output (spekers, headset etc.) just to be on the safe side, since you're already spending so much, just add a little more pricey one :)

Uhmmm people whom do recording studios tend to be 'sound snobs' and note things like MP3 should burn in hell, and so on as they have a very fine sensitivity to sound (they can pick out a cymbal when the average 'idiot' might hear a 'ding' ) and thus want and will spend for the best audio possible they will get. It also depends what your outputting from the computer to, specialized headphones? To a mix deck? etc. all determines what you need (more USB? USB3? Digital Audio Out? etc.). You might want to consider what you will connect this to as a 'recording studio' and make sure it is compatible (ex. do they still use software ONLY works on XP?).
