I've had a 550 Ti for a long while and I had no problems.
Out of the blue the other day, after rebooting the graphics card claimed to be out of date, and several games I play required me to update the driver on my card before I could play them (which is odd because I just updated my card not more than a week ago).

Anyhow, using the Nvidia Experience desktop program thingie, I updated the drivers as they suggested and restarted my comp as they suggested, However when I boot back up, my resolution is off, and it claims I have to update my driver again... it shows the same patch is required which I just installed.. I've tried updating 3 or 4 times an nothing seems to work...

Just to be clear, I still have an output from the Graphics card, it just doesnt seem to be updating/working?

not sure what I should be doing here...

The card is all plugged in, and powers on.

My system is Windows 7 64bit.

any help would be greatly appreciated.

ps. I'm not super savey when it comes to bios/drivers so bare with me.

Thank you.

I've deleted and reinstalled all drivers, the problem continues.

When I ran DXdiag. it didn't show anything under the display? almost as if the graphics card wasn't being read?

Idk

it still has the same problem. when i open up nvidia experience, it says I must install an update... which I do.. and it continues to say this even when i've finished and restarted.

Yeah, I just retried, they aren't the issue.

every time I finish the driver install, I see it tell me that everything has been installed correctly...

and yet when my computer restarts it says I need to install the drivers... somehow it detects what driver i need.. but my computer can't detect what graphics card i have...

Does it seem like the card is working even? Is your display the proper resolution or is it really pixelated.

Also, when you say you rebooted and the problem came up, was it just a normal power on you did or were you messing with something?

Well worst case scenario it sounds like the card could be shot.

When something comes out of the "blue" like this it is usually hardware related, but there are a few things to try yet.

1) Clear the CMOS.
2) Update the mobo bios.
3) Double check the connection with the pcie slot and to the PSU.

Update:

I changed out my graphics for a different graphics card (a radeon card, i had laying around, that I know works) My motherboard wouldn't pick up the new card..

but it would allow an image through...

so i'm starting to think its my motherboard..

I recently changed my mobo out for a newer one.

went from a ASUSTeK COMPUTER M4A87TD/USB3 to my new motherboard which is a

990fxa-ud3 (amd)

everything else (including my graphics card) stayed the same.

Computer ran fine for a few weeks, then randomly this..

to my knowledge this motherboard doesnt require any more watts.

Not sure where I should go from here.

You mentioned to clear the CMOS and reinstall BIOs?

Do we still think that this could be a fix?

I'm not sure how to do either of those.. tbh.

to clear the CMOS you can either remove that batter you see on your mobo or use the "jumpers". Your manual will tell you how to do this. Do this first as it is the easiest. To reinstall the bios you have to check the manufacturers website to see if there is a new BIOS for you to get and then follow their instructions.
