I an planning on getting the asus crosshair v formula z motherboard and scared that my antec sonata 3 case(500W max) will not power my new motherboard

Solution
The Sonata 3 comes with an Antec EA-500 PSU, which is one of the best PSUs to be paired with a case. The Sonata series is the only series of cases that ship with PSUs where you can actually keep the PSU!

Its not a premium little unit, but it is pretty good and fine for powering a Crosshair V board, assuming you don't try to shove a 270x/280/280x on it you will be fine!

I'm trying to determine how much power your graphics card will be using. Saying you are getting a regular ASUS graphics card is like saying you are getting a regular Chevy, are you getting a Volt or a Silverado, there is a big difference in fuel consumption, same with graphics cards, there is a massive difference in power consumption between a 250 and a 290X
