hello i'm building my first gaming rig with a fx 8350 for my cpu, i also put in a radeon hd 7870
xfx double d edition. im woundering if this card is good for running games at normal or higher settings with good fps. games like skyrim/ minecraft/ battlefield 3/ farcry3 / crysis 3.

note i dislike intel, the performance is greater in my opinion with amd.

Solution
Yeah if you dont want to spend more than the 4670k price range, AMD is the way to go. FX-8350 with a nice overclock is a force to be reckoned with.

I just switched from fx to intel. And got way more fps from intel. It's superior and runs cooler. Also, the fx 8350 is not a true 8 core. It is actually 4 that runs double. 4*2=8.

But yes, that setup seems fine regardless.

Yes that graphics card can run medium to high at 30+FPS with some ultra.

As for you karma, Intel runs at a much higher cost, which hinders its "superiority"
Unless you have the cash AMD is the way to go.
The 8350 is a true 8 core as well. Intel uses hyperthreaded cpus which uses virtual cores. AMD has 8 physical cores that share 4 caches. Its still 8 physical cores.

It has better performance per dollar. IF you have the spending money intel beats high end AMD processors. The i7 4770k surpasses even the FX-9370, but costs 330 dollars.

For 1500 bucks you can do much better than a 7870, you can run even up to a 780/780ti with that budget.

The i7 4770k has 4 cores, while the FX has 8.
The reason the i7 works better (but costs more) is because it rocks higher single core power.
AMD makes up for its weaker single core performance by using more cores.

You shouldnt base a purchase on cores or core speeds, but rather everything in combination. In theory a quad core running at 8GHz could be beaten by a quad core at 4GHz due to stronger cores. (just an example)

The money saved on an 8350 could be put to a CPU cooler, better graphics card, or an SSD.

well yea i kno that intel has stronger single cores, but if i got intel i wouldn't go higher than i5 4670k. so the performance vs that i5 to a 8350 is better..

i compared both cpus i5 vs 8350 in to far cry 3 at game-debate.com

the cpu performance is for i5 is 112 & 8350 is 131%
well thank you for the help & opinions :)
