Ive been plotting to build a PC for the longest, and now is the time.

My original build was this:

Corsair 500R
Core i5 4670k
8 Gigs DDR3 2400mhz(Gskill trident x)
Asus Maximus VI HERO
Samsung 840 EVO, 250GB
Corsair H75
EVGA Supernova 650G PSU
Windows 7
This comes out to a whopping 989.87$(add +50$ for windows 7)

I would still need to buy a GPU, Storage drive later, and keyboard/mouse.

While looking around, I wondered what about build that runs a cheap mobo/core i3 4340, but a very reliable PSU and strong GPU? so i went to do some looking around. I realized that with this build, I would be putting most of the load on the GPU, so I didnt necessary need a very powerful CPU or an unlocked one.

So I came up wit

Case:350D (with window)
Core i3 4330
Corsair H75
8 GB Vengeance pro
Msi z87mGaming
2x GTX 660s
1 TB SSHD
NZXT Hale 650W

This amounts to 1013$.. Pre bargain shopping.I can maybe shave off a hundredor two.

The second build, I feel can get me further than the first. I know its an i3, but honestly all im going to be doing is watching netflix, gaming, and facebook. No intensive tasks or number crunching.

I looked at a few i3 4340 benchmarks, and it was actually keeping up, and leaving behind several AMD processors. The gpu was a 290x, and it pretty much kept pace with i5s, and i7s, where as the amd processors could not use it to its full potential. if thats the case this is all I will need.

The games im looking forward to playing are Just MMOs, Guildwars 2, Eldercrolls online, Rift..etc.

However, how would it work with sli?

Any suggestions?

Solution
Right so :

1. I would not suggest pairing to GTX660s. While thats nice if you started with one and added one later, you would be better off adding a stronger card that can THEN be SLId if need be.

2. Overclocking with the Z87 and K-edition CPU is going to help you A LOT in GW2, especially in them legendary fights vs dragons, wurms and marionettes. :D You underestimate how insane MMOs can be on CPUs, Lion's Arch in Wintersday is hellish.

3. So that being said, the first build is a better basis BUT the RAM and motherboard is overkill.

This will get you OCing potential AND a good graphics card.

I see your idea: cheaper cpu & stronger gpu. But I think fx6300 will give you more than i3. And a 3gb 780 will give you more than 2x660. Almost at same budget.

PS : That chassis 350D is a micro ATX. You would be hard pressed to cool dual cards in it. So just changed that. If you want it then go for a Micro-ATX board too.

I work at micro center so I'll be able to get most stuff from there a Lil cheaper right now we have 2 660ti on sale, with my discount I'll be able to get them for less than 150 a piece is it worth it?

In that case, definitely go for GTX660ti's SLI.
Thats a great deal.

The ti version is also a lot better than the vanilla GTX660.
