I am looking for an Intel Mid ATX gaming build, not sure what components that I should buy, so I came here. My maximum budget is $1000. It does not need to include and OS or a monitor, I already have those. It can be a little bit flexible on price, but not by much. I will mainly use it for gaming, but I do use Adobe After Effects, as well as Photoshop quite often, so it also has to be able to handle those as well.

Solution
Intel CPUs are generally good for gaming as they have less but stronger cores. Most of the games hardly use more than 4 cores of a processor. However the latest games are being so designed that it will run better with more cores.
Again photoshop and other photo/video editing or 3D rendering softwares uses more cores and runs better in a 6/8 core processors.

So, I think if you opt a AMD CPU with 8 cores, you will be able to balance both gaming and editing more effectively.

CPU: AMD FX-8320 3.5GHz 8-Core Processor ($160.70 @ NCIX US)
Motherboard: Asus M5A99X EVO R2.0 ATX AM3+ Motherboard ($119.00 @ NCIX US)...

With AMD based system, you'll get more value for money. A similarly performing Intel based system will cost you much more.

Thank you, I am now considering the AMD build, I would have never thought that I would, I've always heard that Intel is better and it is the way to go, but I have been researching it myself, and now I see that it isn't as bad as I heard it was. Once again, thank you.

Also, is it possible to switch the FX-8320 for the 8350, I know it is more, and most likely not needed, but I am willing to pay for it. Is it still compatible with this build? Also I am wiling to pay more for an aftermarket cooler, which would you recommend?

Actually there is no clear winner between intel and amd. They are constantly leapfrogging each other. So, choosing the CPU is ultimately based on buyer's preference and available budget.

As today's games doesn't really require more than 4 cores of a CPU, Intel is still the preferred brand when it comes to gaming only.

Both the systems I've mentioned are good for gaming. Choose whichever you prefer.

One more thing I'd like to mention is that the Asrock board i included into the intel build doesn't support NVIDIA SLI. So, if you plan to do a SLI in the future with another GTX 770, you should take this board:
http://pcpartpicker.com/part/asus-motherboard-z87a
Otherwise the Asrock board is good enough.

Happy Building.

Yup you can totally do that. 8350 is fully compatible with the board, in fact any CPU from AMD FX series is compatible.

Okay thanks, also, am I able to purchase an aftermarket cooler for the CPU, I am also willing to spend more for that. If so, what would you recommend?

If you plan to overclock your CPU in the future then its better to go for a pre-built liquid cooler like corsair H100i:
http://pcpartpicker.com/part/corsair-cpu-cooler-h100i
However if you opt for that cooler then you have to change your case also. H100i will be a tight fit / may not fit for that corsair 200R case i mentioned.

But if you don't plan to overclock your CPU then a low profile air cooler is enough:

If he dont want to change case, he could get a Noctua NH-D14, which performance just aswell as h100i.

I'm not sure on wether or not I am going to overclock, I might, if I do I will go with the liquid cooling. If not I'll just get an air cooled fan
