My 500gb seagate freeagent goflex does not work. Neither it appears in My computer nor does it show in control panel>administrative tools>device management. The light on my device is working properly but when I attach it to an USB port, Windows shows that the USB device has malfunctioned and the windows cannot recognise it.

If you need to return the drive to seagate for replacement go here:

if you are trying to recover data then you will need to remove the drive from the seagate enclosure, thus voiding any warranty, and install it into a drive dock, enclosure, or internally to your pc and run recovery software such as Recuva, Photorec, or testdisk. There are many more free ones.
