They both look awesome, that is one thing I have to say and their cooling solution is top notch. I would go for Gigabyte because are appreciate their makes and I favour them more than ASUS. Choosing between them two isn't easy though.

If gigabyte was more expensive than ASUS and I am on a tight budget then yes.

the asus cooling is amazing. Truly something special. Might also look into evga models also if you can afford them. Their SC and Classified models are pretty amazing cards.

Direct CU II is a great cooling solution, but so is windforce. I believe from the few articles I've read concerning the 770 the Windforce is quieter that the DCU2 but the DCU2 can overclock a little bit better and has better appreciation of Asus boards with the thermal reads and what not; yet the same can be said about the Windforce with Gigabyte boards.

If it were me(I'm kind of a fanboy of both seeing as to how I've bought DCU2 cards in the past, and I just bought a GTX 770 Windforce I'd probably go with whichever partnered with my board if they're at the same price range).

I have the asus direct cuii 780, and mine overclocks like a beast, and even under full gaming load the fans don't ever spin up. I can hear the corsair h100i pump over the sound of the gpu

of course with me owning it and having had a good experience, my opinion is going to be slightly biased, but like actually, DAMN does this thing ever overclock XD (1264 on the core clock stable for gaming, can get over 1300 for synthetics and +486 on the memory offset) these clocks give me 72.2 in unigine valley 1080p extreme preset as a reference of the performance
