Buying from the US (or the rest of the world) is no more difficult than buying from Germany or anywhere else in Europe.
Some things you have to factor in though are, what it is you are wanting to purchase, does the seller ship to the EU, do the goods have restricted use in your country (US versions of the product maybe slightly different to the ones available in your country and may not be allowed to be used in your country)
Once you are satisfied that you are going to be OK to order the goods and have them sent over you need to then think about the cost.
Convert the value of the goods to your national currency, do the same for any shipping costs also.
Then multiply that cost by the duty rate (if there is any), then add the duty amount to the original cost of the goods and shipping and then multiply that by your local VAT rate and that will give you an indication of the total costs.
It isn't going to save you that much on the taxes, the whole reason for them is to try and get people to purchase from the EU rather than from other countries.
