installed new processor, PC wont start.

Switching from an i3 to an i5, motherboard is compatable, power should be sufficient. Whenever i tryto boot the fans start, but i get 4 beeps and the computer dosn't boot. Anyone know what the problem is?

The BIOS may need resetting via jumper/switch. Refer to your motherboard manual for details on this. If you don't have a manual, please post your motherboard model here.

Yeah, motherboard is an ACER IPISB-VR rev 1.01

Please review, the link - number 6 points to the jumper which will reset the CMOS.

Do this before or after installing new chip?

I would install the new chip then do it. The PC should not be powered on when you do this.

Indeed. Reset the new cmos with the new chip and without, problem still persists.

Hi could you specify the exact model of the existing i3 and the new i5 please?

I suspect your i3 is a Sandy bridge and the i5 is an Ivy bridge. I'm not sure if you have a gateway branded PC but the following link points to some BIOS updates (on the BIOS tab). The last one mentions Ivy bridge.
