Hi,

I'm looking to purchase a Low Profile PCI-E graphic card with a quad display output. I need a LP card beacause I'm going to use it in a small mini itx case.

I'm just looking for the cheapeast one (no gaming needed).

Thanks !

Cheapest??? meaning like approximately what's the budget?

Actually, I haven't found any which is under 100$. Since I'm going to use my mini pc as a thin client from my home server, I absolutely not need that the card is powerful. For approximation, under 100$ it should be good though I don't have any price range in mind for LP quad displays graphics.

Thanks !

The HD 7XXX series should be able to deliver that sort of performance..... but we'll check for pricing and variants in the passive section.

Thank you alyoshka. Are you referring to the HD 7xxx cards that support the Eyefinity technology ? In that case only the cards witha mini display port are compatible with that isn't it ?

And hmm what's exactly the passive section ?

Thank you again

Yeah, they have to have the mdp port..... or else you'll end up having to use 2 gpus.... same goes for the 640 nvidias....
You'll need a minimum of 2Gb Vram.... not from the gaming point of view at all.
That passive thing is the catchy part......
Having to find a third party manufacturer who has a good passive cooled card with a mdp port is getting to be a bit of a strain.

PS: The passive section is, I meant , passively cooled card variety. Most of the passive heatsink cards are LP..... meant for HTPCs.... but finding one which meets the quad display criteria is a pain....

Thank you very much alyoshka. I guess that what I need is a small mini itx case with a motherboard that have 2 slots for two cards.

What about this ZBox ? http://www.zotacusa.com/zbox-nano-ad12.html
It have a Radeon HD 73xx with a display port. Nothing indicates more than 2 displays, but according to ATI site I can drive up to three displays with the display port. This one should save me the pain of looking for the good hardware (case, graphic cards, motherboard...).

And you're right basically I need an HTPC with quad display since I'm going to use the machine a distant trading system.

Moreover, what's the point of 2 Gb Vram ? It's in the case I'm using 4 displays from the same card, yes ?

Yup.... only if you're driving more than 2 displays (HD) from a single card, then, you'd requires a minimum of 2GB VRam....

That's a good box..... but let me confirm the tri display specs.

Oh got it for the VRam that's a good point to note, thanks !

Well according to AMD page, http://support.amd.com/en-us/kb-articles/Pages/DrivingM..., there's no mention of the 73XX or 83XX series and Zotac are only having some X3XX Radeon HD :(
Actually, I'd need 4 screens at least... Let me know if you find anything. Meanwhile, I'll try to reach the commercial service of Zotac to ask them if some of there (cheap) boxes supports 4 or more displays

Are you sure that it would be able to handle 4 display ?
I've read somewhere that when you use the DP of a radeon HD card, you can't use the other output ports in the same time. And actually these adapters are pretty expensive :/

It's not going to be easy to find such an affordable box with 4 displays

no it's not going to be easy.... but eventually we will, I could have given you a matrox piece of equipment too... but that is really expensive.

Sincerely, never tried those USB to Monitor things except for a TV tuner......
So i really can't say but if you already have a PC and want to give it a 21 buck trial, I'd be more than glad to see the results.

Hmm, I think that the best option currently is the Zbox AQ01 with a 8330 card (so I still have the chance that the display port -> multiple displays work) + USB -> VGA adapter. that's about 300€ without the monitors and the RAM&SSD :s

It's still too expensive for my budget so I'm going to still look for an alternative solutions. If none, I might give a try to that configuration.

Thank you alyoshka and any advice on this configuration is more than welcome. I'll make sure to write some feedback here if I purchase the hardware.

Nice ! This card from the FLEX edition http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168... is cheap. They're saying that one of the 2 DVI are dual link. On sapphire website, they're talking about 3 screens not four :/
So do you think that means it can run up to with the dual dvi port ? Thanks

Yup..... not only that, if the mobo has an APU from AMD , I think you'll be able to use the onboard AGP too.... making it 4 or 5 screens....

That's so perfect then ! This card costs only 57$ !!
Now I have to look if I can find such an interesting price in France.... EDIT : it's 57$ in the US, 60 € on amazon france (that's something like 90$)..

and I feel like I'm going to hesitate for the case (I need it to be absolutely small, I love the ones like the case of a zbox nano) and ZBox comes with Wifi and bluetooth.
I'm going to check all that. I'll post soon the hardware I'm going to purchase.

Just to be sure alyoshka, you were talking about 2gb minimum of vram. That card have just 1 GB. Can it be an issue ?

Thank you ! I might be posting in the system section for advices about small case + mobo.

But before that I'm gonna make some searches on the Internet. I'll pick up your last post as a solution.
So there's two possibility :
1)Sapphire Flex 6450 Dual DVI + AMD iGPU
2)A Zbox/Intel NUC/... with 2 USB 3.0 -> VGA. This solution is not garanteed to work but have the advantage of being easy to mount and with a small lovely design for these silent boxes
