Hi!
I'm trying to understand if 4 sata III Hdds can work at raid 1+0 (10) on Asus X79 Deluxe or on Asus rampage IV Black edition.
Here are the facts that I've read...

A'). Asus Official site specs: http://www.asus.com/Motherboards/X79DELUXE/#specifications

>Intel® X79 chipset :
2 x SATA 6Gb/s port(s), black
4 x SATA 3Gb/s port(s), black
Support Raid 0, 1, 5, 10

>Marvell® PCIe 9230 controller :
4 x SATA 6Gb/s port(s), dark brown

>ASMedia® ASM1061 controller :
2 x SATA 6Gb/s port(s), dark brown
2 x Power eSATA 6Gb/s port(s), green

So from what I can gather the only hardware option of 4x 6Gb/s port
(which is the minimun of raid 10) is via Marvell controller...

Therefore...
B'). Marvell® PCIe 9230 controller official site:
http://www.marvell.com/storage/system-solutions/assets/Marvell-88SE92xx-Product-Brief.pdf

Marvell 88SE9230:
> 6 Gb/s SATA Ports = 4
> Hardware RAID = Yes, RAID 0/1/10

My conclusion:
It's going to work...right? :??:
I'm concerned cause the asus official site it makes you belive that only intel X79 chipset is capable of raid...

Please give your opinion on this... I don't want to throw away my money without a reason...
Thanks in advance...

P.s anyone know the difference in performance between a raid 10 with Sata (3gb/s) and a raid 10 with sata (6gb/s)
P.s.2 I cannot afford to buy a pci raid 10 sata III controller... :( so my only option is
an mb onboard controller...
