Hello people.

I'm wondering whether the AMD FX-8350 is a good combination to put with the board listed, I've been reading up & people have said it tends to throttle because of the board. Some say if I keep the temps right it'll be fine. So what do I do? The rest of my build is as follows:

Ballistix 1866mhz 8GB DDR3
AMD FX-4100 @ 4.0GHZ (OC'd - This is to be upgraded to the 8-core)
ASRock 990FX Extreme3
CX600w Corsair Power Supply
1TB shitty HDD ^_^

On top of that CPU upgrade, to control the CPU overheating, whether the 8-core is unstable in this board I'll just stick a 6-core in here, I want to stick a "Corsair Hydro Series H60 2013 model High Performance Liquid CPU Cooler" for my CPU. Would this be a good idea? I'm also wanting to put either a 7970 or R9 280x in this build, along with another 8GB Ballistix RAM. Really need help here guys, thanks in advance.

the board has a heatsink on the vrm circuits (to the left of the cpu socket itself, this is what supplies power to the cpu) so running at stock speeds you should be ok. Just try and make sure you have airflow across the vrm heatsink.

did you already purchase the board? there are definitely much better options even for running at stock.

edit: if you already have that board I would still go for the 8350 just make sure you definitely have good airflow on the vrm heatsink.

I have already purchased the board, how many fans would I need to keep the airflow sufficient? I'm buying a NZXT 410 Phantom case, a lot of room for fans. Would this be good?

I have a similar setup.. the 8350 will work just fine with the asrock 990fx extreme 3 mobo. Especially when your NOT overclocking, so the VRM wont be a problem. But with this combo you will not get the full potential of your 8350.
