I bought a custom PC, built by the guys from who I ordered it from and until today I didn't have any problems, except that the CPU cooler was constantly at 2000 RPM and the keyboard lights (for num lock, caps, etc.) stayed on, even after the computer was turned off. Today the problems started after the computer restarted itself, a little later it froze, so I restarted and checked event viewer, there I saw something about some AMD driver file, so I uninstalled the latest drivers and installed the latest beta drivers. No more freezes or restarts since then but BF3 crashed once because of some directx error connected to the drivers and like an hour later, after a beep sound my USB mouse stopped working, I checked device manager, there everything under Universal Serial bus controllers had a yellow exclamation mark, after a restart the mouse works again and the exclamation marks are gone. I remembered that I haven't installed chipset drivers because there aren't any for Windows 8.1 and I couldn't install the win 7 drivers because apparently they can't be installed on win 8.1. Then I remembered something else, my mobo needs a BIOS update so it can support my cpu but I thought that the guys who built the computer, updated it. I checked the BIOS version and it says FA and the date is from 2013, but on gigabyte's website there are four BIOS versions F1, F2, F3, F4, the latest one is from 2012, I guess I have F1 but 1 and 2 do not support my CPU, I do not know what happens if the mobo doesn't support a CPU but I thought that it will be something noticeable, however everything runs great. Something is not right, but what?

PC specs:

  • O.S. - Windows 8.1 64-bit
    CPU - AMD FX-6300 3,5 GHz
CPU Cooler - DeepCool ICEEDGE 400 FS
    GPU - AMD Radeon R9 270X
    Motherboard - Gigabyte GA-78LMT-USB3 (rev. 4.1)
    RAM - Corsair Vengeance 2x4 GB DDR3
    PSU - Corsair VS 650W
I also have one 120 mm rear fan and one 140 mm on the front.

You should update to the newest bios for sure. The issue is most likely your GPU is not fully supported by your motherboard. I have dealt with this before.

You CPU is fine. If it was not compatible with the bios version the computer would not even boot up.

Start by flashing the BIOS to the newest version.

I haven't had any problems since the last restart which fixed the mouse, if something happens again I'll try uninstalling the drivers then cleaning the registry with CCleaner and installing the non-beta ones, but apparently I have the latest BIOS version.
